SAMI-X PRO Weapon Protection Module 1
For anyone who carries a firearm on duty, losing control of it turns a situation into a life-threatening one within seconds. Module 1 is built to prevent exactly that: recognising an approach early, using position, distance and body orientation to deny access, and — if a hand reaches the holster — breaking the grip and regaining control with principles that hold under stress. Self-protection and weapon protection are trained as one concept, not two.
Self-protection and weapon protection — trained as one concept, not two.
What you get
Position, distance and body orientation decide most of it before a hand ever reaches the holster. The module trains that layer explicitly.
Grip positions and grip chains, answers to grabs from the front, side and rear — on the holstered and on the drawn weapon.
Defensive actions, distance creation, body and arm control and transitions into control or takedown options are trained as one integrated concept.
Simple, transferable movement patterns that survive stress — instead of a large number of isolated techniques nobody recalls under pressure.
The problem
Most weapon-retention situations start at contact range, where drawing and shooting are no longer options.
Fine-motor answers collapse under adrenaline, resistance and a moving opponent.
Striking, control and weapon retention taught as separate subjects leave the transitions untrained — and the transitions are where control is lost.
The answer
Threat recognition, positioning and body orientation are trained as the first line — the access that never happens needs no defense.
Who this course is for
Police, corrections, military, customs and security personnel: the module covers grabs from the front, the side and behind, on the holster and on the drawn weapon.
The training starts where distance is already lost and physical contact has happened — including grabs combined with striking and active resistance.
Marksmanship and weapon protection answer different problems. This module begins at the range where drawing and shooting are no longer options.
Five instructor chapters plus the seminar material cover the methodology, the drills and the session design needed to run this yourself.

How certification works here
Unlike most online courses, this one does not end with watching: you submit videos, you get personal feedback, and you finish with a real examination.
Work through the chapters one by one and build a solid understanding of the concepts, drills and techniques of the system.
For selected chapters you submit short videos demonstrating the required material.
A certified SAMI-X instructor reviews your submission and gives you concrete recommendations for improvement.
Once your assignments are complete, you take the official examination.
On successful completion you receive your official SAMI-X PRO Weapon Protection Module 1 certificate.
Two paths — you decide
For your own development
The complete technical system of Module 1: prevention, releases on holster and weapon, and the control work that follows. Nine chapters, 102 lessons, sixteen assignments.
Also included
Twenty-five lessons recorded at the live Weapon Protection seminar: teaching methodology, disarming drills, worst-case scenarios when the attacker already has the weapon, and releases from rear body holds and chokes. Material that does not appear in the technical chapters.
Holstering drills, coordination work combining parry and weapon grip, and Sul-position variations — eight lessons for the weeks when no partner is available.

Follow the course in the recommended order. The principles and techniques build on each other, so practice each section instead of simply watching the videos.
Start by learning and practicing the fundamental movements solo. Once you understand the mechanics, continue with controlled partner training.
Repeat it until you can perform the basic movement without having to consciously think through every step. Correct execution is initially more important than speed.
For practical training, you will primarily need a suitable training pistol and holster. Protective equipment is recommended when progressing to more intensive partner training.
Partner exercises should be performed with dedicated training weapons such as Blue Guns, SIRT pistols, or other appropriate training equipment.
Technique first. Positioning, movement, weapon security, and control should be reliable before increasing speed and intensity.

Your weapon must remain under your control — especially when the situation is not.

Gross-motor movement patterns, few in number, that hold up with a resisting opponent and a hand on your weapon.
Defense, distance creation, control and takedown options connect directly into weapon protection instead of sitting beside it.
This chapter focuses on preventing access to your weapon before the attacker can establish a secure grip. You will learn the Pre-Defense principle and practice using the Defense Step, Checking Hand, and Cover to respond …
This chapter focuses on situations where an attacker has already gained access to your holster. You will learn different grip positions and grip chains and practice responses to grabs from the front, side, and …
This chapter focuses on the critical situation in which an attacker gains direct access to your drawn pistol. You will begin with Pre-Defense exercises designed to prevent the grab at an early stage and progressively …

Student certification, the instructor assignments and a successful instructor examination.
Two lessons from real unit training, including COBRA, showing how the material is delivered to professional operators.
Everything at a glance
Reduce the speed and check your starting position, distance, direction of the attack, and basic mechanics. Do not try to compensate for technical mistakes with additional strength.
Only after you can perform the basic technique correctly. Resistance should then be increased progressively rather than immediately training at maximum intensity.
Initially, yes. Later, vary the direction, timing, intensity, and type of attack to move from technical practice toward more realistic application.
Once the fundamentals are established, training with your normal equipment can make the exercises more realistic and reveal how your equipment affects movement and weapon protection.
Do not treat Weapon Protection as an isolated collection of techniques. Gradually combine positioning, self-protection, distance management, weapon handling, and control into complete situations.
You should have a solid understanding of the principles and be able to apply the fundamental skills of Module 1 reliably before progressing to the more advanced content of Module 2.
The course is designed for professional weapon carriers, including police, corrections, military, customs, security personnel, close protection professionals, and others who carry a firearm as part of their duties.
You will learn to recognize and prevent attempts to access your holster or weapon, protect your firearm during physical contact, break different grips, and regain control of the situation.
No. Module 1 provides the fundamental principles and skills of the SAMI-X PRO Weapon Protection Program.
Yes. Shooting skills and Weapon Protection address different problems. This course focuses specifically on situations where distance is lost and another person attempts to access your firearm.
No. The training starts before the attacker gains control of the weapon. Prevention, positioning, distance management, self-protection, and preventing access are essential parts of Module 1.
The course includes weapon and holster grabs from different directions, as well as situations where weapon access is combined with grabbing, holding, or striking attacks.
The principles, movements, and technical sequences can be systematically learned online and practiced solo. Partner training is required to realistically practice grabs, resistance, and physical interaction.
No. Practical partner training should be performed with appropriate training weapons such as Blue Guns, SIRT pistols, or comparable safe training equipment.
Not in the traditional sense. The focus is specifically on professional weapon carriers and combines personal protection with maintaining control of the firearm.
Yes. Module 1 includes distance creation, arm and body control, as well as transitions into control and takedown options.
The emphasis is not on athletic performance. The system focuses on functional principles, positioning, control, and simple transferable movement patterns.
Module 1 provides the foundation for the complete SAMI-X PRO program. The following modules progressively introduce more advanced Weapon Retention, tactical applications, and scenario-based training.
