What is the Karambit?

The Karambit is a traditional blade weapon originating from Southeast Asia.
As early as the 11th century, it was used in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia – first as a tool, and later as an integral part of the local martial arts.
Characteristic features of the Karambit are its claw-shaped blade and the ring at the end of the handle, allowing for a unique handling style.
Today, it is also highly popular in the West and is practiced across a variety of styles and disciplines.

Course Content

This course is all about movement, technique, and fluid handling of the Karambit.

You will learn:

✅ Partner drills & technical applications
✅ Introduction to the SAMI-X Karambit module
✅ Exercises with our new Karambit form
✅ Flowing movements, precision & control
✅ Strike training with pads and equipment
✅ Sparring elements & dynamic partner work

In addition to technique and coordination, intensive work with focus pads, striking shields, and partner drills will also promote the fighting aspect and actively enhance physical fitness.

The course is suitable for both beginners, advanced participants and instructors.

🏅 QUALIFICATION & CERTIFICATION – SAMI INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM

The path to becoming a certified SAMI Instructor or Partner follows a two-step structure.

⚠️ Please note: Completing an instructor-level course alone does not authorize you to teach or certify others under the SAMI International name.

STEP 1: QUALIFICATION

Each course serves to develop technical skills and qualification.
After full participation, meeting all course requirements, and successfully passing the final assessment, you receive official candidate status.

Example: SAMI-X Pro Level 1 Candidate Instructor
This qualification is system-specific (e.g. Knife Concept, Axe Concept, etc.) and applies to the respective level only.

STEP 2: CERTIFICATION

To officially teach under the SAMI International name, share techniques, use SAMI materials, or operate commercially as a SAMI Instructor, an active certified license is required.

📜 SAMI Instructor License
Fee: €250.00 per year
Duration: 1 year (renewable annually)

Without a valid license, you are not authorized to teach or use SAMI materials under the official brand.

💡 One active license covers all your qualifications.

Example: If you are qualified in Knife Concept, Axe Concept, and Defender – one license is sufficient.

Just Attending (No Exam)?

Of course – you’re welcome to attend any seminar without taking the instructor exam.
In this case, you will receive either a:

📄 Student Diploma (depending on course content)
